The Fort Langley Christmas Tree Stroll: A Free Family Activity

When the days get shorter and the Christmas season starts to sparkle, Fort Langley becomes one of the Fraser Valley’s most charming places to explore. This year, take your family on a completely free holiday adventure: the Fort Langley Christmas Tree Stroll is a self-guided walk through the village to discover beautifully decorated Christmas trees, festive storefronts, and cozy stops along the way.

It is simple, fun, and perfect for families of all ages, especially if you want something Christmasy that does not cost a thing.

What is the Christmas Tree Stroll?

Throughout late November and December, Fort Langley fills its village centre with decorated Christmas trees. Local businesses, community groups, and families create their own themed trees and place them throughout the village.

Your job? Bundle up, grab a warm drink, and see how many decorated trees you can find. Every tree looks different and kids love “rating” their favourites.

It turns a regular walk into a festive scavenger hunt.

Where to Start & Map Link

Begin anywhere in the village, but especially good starting points are:

  • Fort Langley Community Hall (Glover Road)
  • The intersection of Glover Road & Station Street
  • Marina Park near the river

Fun Ways to Make It Special

  • Tree Bingo: Make a bingo sheet for kids: star topper, silver ornaments, blue lights, candy cane ribbons, wooden toys.
  • Family Selfie Stop: At each tree take a selfie, great for your December album.
  • Let the Kids Choose the Route: Give each child a turn to choose “left” or “right” at intersections which makes the stroll feel like an adventure.
  • Finish with a Playground or Hot Drink: Marina Park by the river is a nice stop before heading back.

Parking Info

  • Free street parking throughout the village (look for spots on Glover Road, King Street).
  • Additional parking near Marina Park.
  • On weekends arrive a bit early — the village can fill up fast in the afternoon.

Why Families Love It

  • It is completely free.
  • It feels festive without the crowds of big holiday events.
  • Kids get to explore, move, and discover instead of waiting in lines.
  • You can do it on your own schedule — any day, any time around dusk for best effect.

Helpful Tips

  • Go around dusk or early evening so the lights pop against the dark sky.
  • Bring gloves, scarves, and a thermos with hot chocolate for little ones.
  • Keep your phone charged, photo-ops galore.
  • If rainy, bring clear umbrellas and you’ll still get great lighting and reflections.
